The Travelers Co. Inc. on Thursday reported net income of $709 million for the third quarter, up from $293 million in the prior-year quarter, as catastrophe losses decreased by more than half.
Travelers said its catastrophe losses for the quarter were $264 million pre-tax, compared to $700 million pre-tax in the prior-year quarter.
For the first nine months of the year, net income was $1.90 billion, a 26% increase from $1.50 billion in the prior-year period.
