As California regulators develop new utilization review reporting requirements mandated by Senate Bill 1160, one group has decided to start collecting its own information on UR decisions.
The California Orthopaedic Association last month launched a pair of online surveys for its members: Good UR and Bad UR.
The organization said it’s collecting the information to show the Division of Workers’ Compensation that change is needed to the UR process, and that “some reviewers are totally unreasonable and unqualified to review surgical requests,” according to its website...
