Opioid use lasting more than 90 days after a workplace injury was associated with increased age, more years with the same employer and a higher annual income, according to a study of workers’ comp claims from Chesapeake Employers’ Insurance Co.
The study, published last week in JAMA Network Open, included 9,596 claims from 2008 through 2016 in which at least one opioid prescription was filled within 90 days of the injury.
