Firefighters for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection would be eligible to receive salary continuation benefits in lieu of temporary disability, under a recently amended bill.
Last year, Gov. Gavin Newsom vetoed AB 872, which would have allowed rank-and-file and supervisory firefighters and members of State Bargaining Unit 8 to receive up to 52 weeks of full-pay indemnity benefits rather than temporary disability calculated at two-thirds of their wages.
