Higher Wages Drive 2.9% Benefit Increase

The maximum compensation rate for injuries and deaths occurring in 2014 will increase by 2.9% because of an increase in the state’s average weekly wage, the Alaska Workers’ Compensation Division said on Monday.Maximum compensation, which is capped at 120% of the average weekly wage, will increase to $1,143 in 2014 from $1,110 in 2013.
