A contractor in Carmel has been sentenced to two years of probation for not having workers’ compensation insurance, the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Raymond John Coopersmith Jr., 55, was also ordered to pay a $3,000 fine. Coopersmith faces up to one year in county jail and additional fines if he violates his probation. He was sentenced on Wednesday by Judge Thomas Wills.
On Feb. 22, the Contractors State License Board investigated Coopersmith’s business, Carmel Coatings, for the use of uninsured labor at a residence in Carmel.
