Employer's Parent Company Shares Civil Immunity for Sawmill Worker's Fatal Accident

The Arkansas Court of Appeals ruled that the parent company of a worker’s direct employer was immune from civil liability for his fatal on-the-job accident. Case: Mason v. Wilson Brothers Lumber Co. LLC, No. CV-21-263, 05/11/2022, published. Facts: Jordan Mason worked at a sawmill near Rison, Arkansas. On May 30, 2018, Jordan was sweeping sawdust off a lumber deck conveyor when the grating he was on collapsed. He fell about 10 feet, and the steel grating came down on top of him.
