Transportation Contractor Gets 10 Years for Fraud, Tax Evasion

The operator of a transportation company that contracted with Santa Clara County Valley Transit Authority was sentenced to 10 years in state prison and ordered to pay more than $2.7 million in restitution following his conviction on 19 felony counts of workers’ compensation premium fraud, income tax evasion and unemployment insurance tax evasion, according to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s office.
