Legislation introduced in New Jersey would create a presumption of compensability for some injuries or illnesses first responders suffered while responding to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
The presumption created by Senate Bill 1470, by Sens. Joseph A. Lagana, D-Bergen, and Nicholas P. Scutari, D-Somerset, would apply without regard to when a claim is filed but would be contingent upon workers participating in a monitoring program run by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
