LOS ANGELES — A contractor for the California Division of Workers’ Compensation issued 184,735 independent medical review decisions last year, up from 172,250 in 2017 and 176,002 in 2016.
Utilization review decisions were upheld last year in 156,523 of the IMR cases, or 84.7%, while 17,631, or 9.5%, were overturned and 10,581, or 5.7%, were partially overturned, according to figures presented by DWC Administrative Director George Parisotto during the division’s educational conference in Los Angeles on Monday.
