The maximum weekly benefit rate for workers' compensation claimants in New York rose by less than 1% over the weekend.
The New York State Workers' Compensation Board announced Thursday in a bulletin that as of July 1, the maximum weekly benefit rate will be $870.61, up from $864.32. The rate will be in effect until June 30, 2018.
The maximum weekly benefit is calculated by taking two-thirds of the state average weekly wage. The 2016 SAWW, the most recent calculated, was $1,305.92.
Only workers earning roughly $68,000 or more per year can obtain the maximum weekly benefit rate....
