Physicians barred from practicing medicine in other states have been granted permission to practice in Georgia, including a doctor who attempted to hire a hitman to kill a patient over a workers’ compensation claim, according to an Atlanta Journal-Constitution review.
The paper examined more than 500 licensing and disciplinary decisions involving physicians in Georgia. On nearly two dozen occasions, the Georgia Composite Medical Board allowed doctors cited for criminal offenses or other misconduct to practice in the state, even when other boards wouldn’t license them.
