The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation announced that a Columbus resident was ordered to pay the agency $18,369 in restitution after he cashed a dividend check stolen from an employer.
The BWC said that shortly after it sent a check to the employer in December 2020, the company contacted the agency to say it had not received the payment.
The BWC Special Investigations Department subsequently learned the check was deposited into the account of Curtis Wilson.
Wilson had no relationship with the employer. He pleaded guilty to one count of receiving stolen property in June.
