The Massachusetts Insurance Division on Wednesday approved a 1.5% average increase in average workers' compensation rates effective July 1, the Workers' Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau announced Wednesday.
As usual, Insurance Commissioner Daniel R. Judson approved a far smaller increase that the rating bureau had requested. WCRIB in December filed for an average 6.4% hike. The state attorney general's office filed a notice that it intended to participate in a formal public hearing on the proposal.
