California employers would be allowed to continue using prepaid debit cards for indemnity benefits through the end of 2024, under recently introduced legislation.
Assemblywoman Lisa Calderon, D-Whittier, on Tuesday introduced AB 489, which would extend until Jan. 1, 2025, a sunset provision that originates from a five-year-old law allowing employers and carriers to use debit cards to provide wage replacement benefits.
