In Kansas, fewer premiums of under $100,000 were written in Fiscal Year 2016 than in previous years, but premiums of over $100,000 increased by 19.5%, according to the state workers' compensation agency's annual report.
FY 2016 was an outlier for work-related accidents at small businesses, with roughly $70 million in losses incurred among businesses with premiums of between $0 and $5,000. That's almost double last year's losses of $41 million.
