New Bill Would Create Presumption for Hospital Workers

Recently introduced legislation would create a presumption that infectious diseases and musculoskeletal injuries arose out of employment for California hospital workers who provide direct patient care in an acute care facility. The presumption in Senate Bill 893, introduced Monday by Sens. Anna Caballero, D-Salinas, and Nancy Skinner, D-Berkeley, would apply to diseases including tuberculosis, meningitis and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus skin infections.
