As more states legalize medical marijuana, and pot has started showing up in workers’ compensation claims, two schools of thought seem to be emerging.
On the one hand are those who point to the lack of convincing evidence of marijuana’s efficacy in treating a variety of conditions, including pain. Without that evidence, they say, medical providers should not be condoning its use.
But others note that more and more patients are using marijuana, regardless of what doctors and scientists might think, and so physicians should be given advice on how to handle it.
