Texas Mutual Insurance Co., the largest workers' compensation carrier in the state, announced this week that it has donated more than $1.1 million in workforce development grants to 16 education and skills-training organizations.
The grants, an average of $68,750 for each recipient, are designed to strengthen job-skill training programs, influence statewide change and empower community collaboration, the company said in a statement. Economic forecasts have suggested that Texas will need to add almost 8 million jobs by 2036 to maintain strong economic growth, the insurer said.
