Plastics Manufacturer Fined $274K After Worker's Finger Is Severed

The federal work safety agency fined an Ohio plastics manufacturer $274,934 after investigating the second debilitating injury suffered by a worker there in less than 18 months. A bench cutter severed a 27-year-old's finger as she cut rubber material on June 22, 2016, at Lauren Manufacturing in New Philadelphia, according to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
