Nine Promoted at AF Group

AF Group, the parent of Michigan-based Accident Fund Insurance, announced this week the promotion of nine management employees.

Abel Travis, who was hired last April, was promoted to vice president of underwriting and product innovation. Travis was previously an assistant vice president and head of commercial lines for Hanover Insurance Group. Travis received a master's of business administration from Long Island University.

Kerri Kittmann was promoted to vice president for servicing carrier operations. Kittmann joined AF Group in 2000 and has held various management positions. Previously, she worked in finance and accounting positions for Citizens Hanover Insurance and the Blue Care Network. She has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Michigan State University.

Mitch Walsh was promoted to vice president of business transformation. Walsh jointed AF Group in 2015 as director of strategy and operations. Previously, he was a vice president for insurance services at Texas Mutual Insurance Co. Walsh earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Michigan State University.

Becky Holnagel, currently leader of actuarial and predictive modeling and data strategy, was appointed chief actuary. Holnagel has held several management positions since joining AF Group in 2006. She served as a senior actuarial analyst for Meemic Insurance Co. and as an actuarial analyst and commercial lines underwriter for Citizens Insurance Co. Holnagel received her bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Michigan.

Jacob Geyer was appointed vice president of AF Specialty, and vice president of business analytics and underwriting operations. Geyer joined Accident Fund in June 2008 as a senior actuarial analyst. Prior to this, he worked at Liberty Mutual in an actuarial role for pricing and ratemaking. Geyer earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Michigan State University.

Jaime Dibean was appointed managing director of business liaisons. Dibean has been with AF Group for nearly 16 years in a variety of key roles, including director of the Business Liaison Office team, manager of help desk and applications, and strategic planning adviser. She earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Michigan State University.

Eric Halter, a certified public accountant, was appointed managing director of AF Speciality. Halter joined AF Group in 2017 as director of AF Specialty. Previously, he served as president of a large captive management organization. Halter holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the College of Charleston.

Walter Matthews was appointed managing director of corporate actuarial and reinsurance. Matthews joined AF Group in 2010. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and economics from the University of California, San Diego. 

Rob Westburg was appointed managing director of Fundamental Underwriters, AF Group’s new commercial auto insurance brand. He joined AF Group in 2017. He was previously president of Starpoint General Agency. He also held numerous positions during his 16 years at American International Group. Westburg earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Richmond.
