The Hartford has reported a 32% increase in net income for the third quarter, marking gains in small- and middle-market commercial lines.
The Connecticut-based carrier had net income of $388 million in the third quarter of 2014 compared to $293 million in the same period of 2013, according to a Monday press release. That included a 2% increase in written premium from $2.56 billion to $2.6 billion, driven by a 5% increase in middle market and an 11% rise in small-market business, according to the statement.
