The Louisiana Workforce Commission has issued an emergency rule directing insurers to relax deadlines for medical authorization and prescription refills, except for opioids.
Sheral Kellar, director of the Office of Workers' Compensation Administration, posted a notice that the rule will be in effect until at least April 13.
Some of the requirements include:
Insurers should accept medical authorization forms, known as 1010 forms, for more than 30 days, particularly if a medical facility is now closed because of COVID-19.
