An exotic dancer in Florida has filed a federal lawsuit against a strip club, alleging the owners misclassified dancers as independent contractors and deprived them of wages, overtime and benefits, which are required by the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Shakeena Rice charges that Lookers Lounge in Pensacola, now known as Cheetah, controlled dancers' schedules, work conditions and fees paid by customers but did not pay the women any wages, according to the complaint filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida.
