House Passes Bill That Would Expand Cancer Coverage to More First Responders

The Michigan House of Representatives passed a bill that would allow forest fire officers who develop certain cancers to seek indemnity and medical benefits from the First Responder Presumed Coverage Fund. The House on Wednesday voted 106-3 to pass House Bill 4171, by Rep. Sue Allor, R-Wolverine. HB 4171 would add active-duty forest fire officers and fire and crash rescue officers with at least 60 months of service to seek benefits from the fund.
