Doctors in Hawaii will need a crash course in treatment guidelines if they are to comply with new regulations imposed by Gov. Linda Lingle's labor department on Friday.
Even though the Legislature passed a bill that revokes the administration's rule-making authority, the law has not yet taken effect and is likely to be vetoed, state officials said. That means the regulations adopted by the state Labor and Industrial Relations Department are now effective, said department spokesman James Hardway.
