Labor Dept. Shutters West Haven Diner after Finding no Evidence of Comp Coverage

The Connecticut Department of Labor shut down a diner in West Haven on Friday after an investigation prompted by a wage complaint revealed that the owner had not purchased workers' compensation coverage, according to a report in the New Haven Register. Labor department investigators posted a stop-work order on the door of the A-1 Diner on Friday. A department spokeswoman told the newspaper that a worker at the restaurant had complained that employees were not being paid.
