Ryan Brannan, who has served as workers’ compensation commissioner in Texas since August 2014, has been reappointed to the position for a term ending Feb. 1, 2017.
Gov. Greg Abbott made the appointment, which was announced on Thursday.
Brannan oversees the Division of Workers’ Compensation for the Texas Department of Insurance. He was first appointed by Gov. Rick Perry, for whom he served as a policy advisor on workers’ compensation and other insurance issues. He was also an advisor on legal issues including tort reform, property rights and eminent domain.
