CNA Financial Corp. on Monday reported second-quarter net income of $270 million, down slightly from $272 million in the second quarter of 2017.
For the first half of the year, net income was $561 million, up 5.4% from $532 million in the prior-year period.
In the company’s commercial insurance segment, net written premiums were up 4% in the second quarter, to $810 million. The segment’s combined ratio was 96.6%, increasing from 94.6% in the prior-year quarter.
