New regulations that allow claimants and carriers the option of using debit cards for income and death benefits took effect Sunday, according to a reminder posted online by the Texas Division of Workers' Compensation.
Under the amendments to Texas Administrative Code Section 124.5 and 124.6, claimants must opt in to the access card program and are required to be given a disclosure about terms and automatic teller machine locations before being asked to sign an agreement to accept benefit payments through a debit card, the DWC said.
