A Georgia woman who filed a workers' compensation claim after telling police that her supervisor had assaulted her was sentenced to five years of probation and ordered to pay $1,850 in restitution, the State Board of Workers' Compensation said Monday.
Jan Smith, 48, was arrested and charged with workers' compensation fraud in February 2014. On Feb. 25 of this year, she pleaded guilty in Crisp County Superior Court to one count of workers' compensation fraud and two felony counts of making false statements, the board's Enforcement Division said in a press release.
