The Washington State Department of Labor and Industries said a construction company with a history of safety violations is facing $234,360 in penalties for problems at two Seattle job sites that exposed workers to potential injuries.
The department fined Chilos Builders $126,000 for inadequate safety rails on the roof of an apartment the company was helping build. L&I said the unguarded roof exposed six workers to falls of more than 28 feet.
There were also wall openings almost 10 feet above the ground that weren’t guarded and no handrails on stairways leading to the second floor. ...
