Contractor Racks Up $234,360 in Penalties for Safety Violations

The Washington State Department of Labor and Industries said a construction company with a history of safety violations is facing $234,360 in penalties for problems at two Seattle job sites that exposed workers to potential injuries. The department fined Chilos Builders $126,000 for inadequate safety rails on the roof of an apartment the company was helping build. L&I said the unguarded roof exposed six workers to falls of more than 28 feet.
