Legislature Passes PTSD Bill

The Connecticut General Assembly passed a bill that would make it possible for all workers to receive benefits for post-traumatic stress disorder. The state House of Representatives voted 104-44 to pass SB 913 on Wednesday. The Senate voted 36-0 to pass the bill May 11. The bill builds on legislation enacted in 2019 making mental stress claims compensable for some first responders. The 2019 measure allowed first responders to file PTSD claims for specific incidents such as viewing a deceased minor or witnessing a death or traumatic physical injury.
