SB 1160 Sails Through Committee Despite Lien Concerns

The Assembly Insurance Committee on Thursday approved Senate Bill 1160, which would limit utilization review in the first 30 days of a claim, despite opposition from the California Society of Industrial Medicine and Surgery over lien provisions in the bill. The committee voted 12-0 to pass SB 1160, by Sen. Tony Mendoza, D-Artesia, after a long line of labor and business representatives said they supported it.
