Neurosurgeon Charged in Alleged $500,000 Fraud Scheme

A Sacramento-area neurosurgeon has been charged with workers’ compensation fraud, medical insurance fraud and grand theft after allegedly submitting more than $500,000 in fraudulent claims to California's State Compensation Insurance Fund. Dr. Laura Jean Anderson, 64, of Carmichael, was arrested Monday and booked into the Sacramento County Jail. She was released on bail, and her arraignment is scheduled for April 18 in Sacramento County Superior Court, Department 8.
