The West Virginia Senate on Friday approved a bill that would create a multi-part test to determine if a worker can be deemed an independent contractor.
Senate Bill 272, sponsored by Senate President Craig Blair, a Republican, and by Sen. Stephen Baldwin, D-Greenbriar, would go further than some states' employment tests. Requested by the governor, the measure seeks to end the confusion that has arisen in recent years, the bill explains.
