Immigrants would have one less thing to fear if they are injured on the job, under a bill the New York Assembly passed last week.
The measure was one of five affecting workers and workers' compensation that passed at least one legislative chamber in the last few days. The other bills would allow massage therapists to treat injured workers, grant more paid leave for domestic abuse victims and some construction workers, and allow direct deposit of death benefits.
