Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) has signed legislation to extend the period for taking action on workers' compensation claims from two years to three years.Senate Bill 430 by Sen. Edwin Murray, D-New Orleans, is being enacted as Act 783 and is effective Aug. 1.Current law provides that when an injury does not result at the time of or immediately after an accident, the "prescriptive period" is one year from the time the injury develops.The law provides that in such cases claim for payment is "forever barred" unless proceedings have been started within two years from the date of the accident...
