The South Carolina Workers' Compensation Commission has approved a 2020 maximum weekly benefit rate of $867, which is up slightly from $846 for last year.
South Carolina law allows injured workers two-thirds of their average weekly wage for temporary total and permanent partial disability, up to a maximum of 100% of the average weekly wage in the state.
The wage has increased every year since 1979, the commission said in a notice posted on its website. In 1980, the wage was $197. In 2000, it was $507.
