Just weeks before his trial was set to begin, the former chief executive of Insys Therapeutics Inc. has agreed to plead guilty to his role in a scheme to bribe doctors to prescribe a powerful opioid, U.S. prosecutors said on Wednesday.
Reuters reports that Michael Babich, 42, has agreed to plead guilty to conspiracy and mail fraud charges, federal prosecutors in Boston said in a court filing. Terms of the plea deal were not disclosed. Babich resigned as Insys Therapeutics’ CEO in 2015.
