Gov. Greg Abbott this week named former state Rep. Ron Simmons to the Texas Mutual Insurance Co. board of directors, the governor's office announced.
Simmons, 58, is a Republican from Carrollton, Texas. He is an investment adviser and chairman of the Retirement Advisors of America, and he represented District 65 in the state House for three terms. He lost in his bid for a fourth term last fall to a Democratic opponent, Michelle Beckley.
Simmons' term at Texas Mutual will expire in 2023. The appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.
