Gun Range Draws $111,000 in Fines for Alleged Lead, other Hazards

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has issued 28 citations, with fines totaling $111,000, to Illinois Gun Works, Ltd., of Elmwood Park for alleged health violations following a Jan. 21 inspection referred by the Illinois Department of Public Health that found two gun range operators allegedly were exposed to airborne lead levels up to 12 times the permissible level.OSHA issued 27 serious citations, including 13 for allegedly violating the lead standard, failing to implement engineering and work practice controls to reduce exposure, to collect full shift personal samples for moni...
