Lawmaker Amends Bill Requiring Suspension for Doctors Convicted of Fraud

The California Division of Workers’ Compensation would be required to hold a hearing before suspending providers convicted of fraud under a recently amended bill the Senate Committee on Labor and Industrial Relations is scheduled to hear Wednesday. Assemblyman Adam Gray, D-Merced, in May amended AB 1244 that originally addressed water rights issues to propose the DWC suspend doctors who have been barred from participating in the state’s Medicaid program.
