A California appellate court upheld the dismissal of a municipal employee’s suit against her employer for its alleged failure to protect her from contracting typhus.

Facts: Elizabeth Greenwood began working as a deputy Los Angeles city attorney in 1996. In 2018, she moved into an office at City Hall East. At the time, there was a typhus epidemic in the downtown Los Angeles area, and the County of Los Angeles had designated an area immediately adjacent to City Hall East as the “typhus zone.”
