Bill Calls for Review of Provider Payment Methods, Would Ban Apportionment to Genetics

The chairman of the Senate labor committee introduced bill language that would call for a study of different payment models for providers treating injured workers in California and would prohibit apportionment to certain genetic characteristics. Sen. Jerry Hill, D-San Mateo, on Wednesday amended SB 537 to call on the Division of Workers’ Compensation to study alternatives to the fee-for-service payment model that is used in California.
