The Texas Division of Workers' Compensation isn't waiting for guidance from Medicare and has moved on its own to authorize telephone and video-based physical therapy, occupational therapy, rehabilitation and speech pathology services.
The DWC announced Monday that it had adopted, on an emergency basis, new rules to allow the services via telemedicine platforms. The move will let the providers be reimbursed at the workers' compensation fee schedule rate or network contracted rate, the same as for in-person services.
