Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards on Monday vetoed a bill that addressed presumption — but only for injury claims outside of workers' compensation.
House Bill 597, sponsored by Rep. Richard Nelson, R-Mandeville, would have added one paragraph to state law: “In a claim for personal injury damages that is not raised pursuant to the Louisiana Workers' Compensation Law, the lack of a prior history of an illness, injury or condition shall not create a presumption” that the injury was caused by the event that is the subject of the claim.
