Deputy Settles PTSD Claim Following Heart Condition Claims

A retired south Florida sheriff's deputy has settled a mental stress claim for $120,000, days after he settled a heart-condition claim and two years after Florida made post-traumatic stress disorder a compensable condition. Robert Campbell, 53, worked for the Volusia County Sheriff's Office for 16 years before recently retiring, according to the Daytona Beach News-Journal. He qualified for PTSD benefits under the 2018 state law, passed in the wake of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando that killed 50 people and left many first responders traumatized by what they had witnessed....
