The James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act cleared the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee Tuesday after languishing there since last year.The panel voted 33 to 12 to pass H.R. 847, which establishes a permanent monitoring and treatment program for first responders to the World Trade Center attacks through the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).The bill also reopens the September 11 Victim Compensation Fund of 2001 to responders and others who were harmed as a result of debris removal from Ground Zero.The bill is named for New York City Police Detective ...
