Fatal Explosion Results in almost $1M in Fines

A railcar cleaning company faces close to one million dollars in fines after an explosion that killed two of its workers. Moments before the two employees, ages 41 and 45, were sent in to a railcar, a check of the air quality indicated a serious risk of an explosion, an investigation by the Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration found. Nebraska Railcar Company faces penalties of $963,000 and has been placed on the agency's severe violators list following this year's April 14 tragedy.
